# Letterboxd vs Tickr Ltd

Letterboxd and Tickr Ltd both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Tickr Ltd's written reviews are positive against 59% of Letterboxd's. Tickr Ltd also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 16) and ads (none vs shown). Letterboxd's advantage is ratings volume (88K vs 6) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 3 months). On price, rating and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Letterboxd sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $18.99 per year. Tickr Ltd asks for nothing beyond the download.

Tickr Ltd holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Letterboxd has 88K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 59% of Letterboxd's written reviews are positive against 100% of Tickr Ltd's.

Letterboxd ships an update fortnightly, Tickr Ltd every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
