# SSCPrep vs GeoScholar

The clearest difference is ads: GeoScholar at none against SSCPrep's shown. GeoScholar also leads on update cadence (every 3 months vs every 36 months) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.6). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SSCPrep sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and GeoScholar sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SSCPrep ships an update every 36 months, GeoScholar every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
