# Voice Recorder (Premium) vs Direct

The clearest difference is rating: Direct at 5.0 against Voice Recorder (Premium)'s 3.0. Direct also leads on update cadence (every 3 months vs every 20 months) and price ($1.99 vs $2.99). Voice Recorder (Premium)'s advantage is review sentiment (29% vs 0%) and ratings volume (20 vs 1). On ads, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Voice Recorder (Premium) costs $2.99 and Direct $1.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Direct holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Voice Recorder (Premium) has 20 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 29% of Voice Recorder (Premium)'s written reviews are positive against 0% of Direct's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Voice Recorder (Premium) ships an update every 20 months, Direct every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
