# Hourly Chime vs Digital Clock

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Hourly Chime at none against Digital Clock's 1. Hourly Chime also leads on review sentiment (67% vs 52%) and update cadence (every 11 days vs every 3 weeks). Digital Clock's advantage is ratings volume (1.3K vs 8) and rating (4.4 vs 4.1). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Digital Clock sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Hourly Chime asks for nothing beyond the download.

Digital Clock holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Digital Clock has 1.3K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Hourly Chime's written reviews are positive against 52% of Digital Clock's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Hourly Chime ships an update every 11 days, Digital Clock every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
