# iButton Sounds vs Sum Puff

The clearest difference is rating: Sum Puff at 4.5 against iButton Sounds's 2.8. Sum Puff also leads on update cadence (every 8 days vs every 22 months) and ratings volume (517 vs 92). iButton Sounds's advantage is review sentiment (25% vs 9%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. iButton Sounds sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Sum Puff sells 16 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Sum Puff holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sum Puff has 517 ratings behind it against 92, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of iButton Sounds's written reviews are positive against 9% of Sum Puff's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

iButton Sounds ships an update every 22 months, Sum Puff every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
