# Rain Bird vs ElevationCheck

The clearest difference is rating: Rain Bird at 4.7 against ElevationCheck's 4.2. Rain Bird also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). ElevationCheck's advantage is review sentiment (63% vs 31%) and update cadence (every 2 days vs every 2 months). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ElevationCheck sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.99 per month. Rain Bird asks for nothing beyond the download.

Rain Bird holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Rain Bird has 79K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 31% of Rain Bird's written reviews are positive against 63% of ElevationCheck's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Rain Bird ships an update every 2 months, ElevationCheck every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
