# Rain Bird vs RYOBI

The clearest difference is monetization model: Rain Bird at free against RYOBI's free with in-app purchases. Rain Bird also leads on ratings volume (70K vs 13K) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.0). RYOBI's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Rain Bird against 4.7 for RYOBI. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Rain Bird has 70K ratings behind it against 13K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 31% of Rain Bird's written reviews are positive against 30% of RYOBI's.

Rain Bird ships an update every 2 months, RYOBI fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 16, 2026.
