# DNS Override vs Tracker Protection

The clearest difference is update cadence: DNS Override at fortnightly against Tracker Protection's every 4 months. DNS Override also leads on rating (4.5 vs 4.2) and ratings volume (1.9K vs 77). Tracker Protection's advantage is review sentiment (53% vs 36%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DNS Override sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and Tracker Protection sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

DNS Override holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DNS Override has 1.9K ratings behind it against 77, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 36% of DNS Override's written reviews are positive against 53% of Tracker Protection's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

DNS Override ships an update fortnightly, Tracker Protection every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
