# Jam Looper vs Preamp

The clearest difference is rating: Preamp at 5.0 against Jam Looper's 4.4. Preamp also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 3 months). Jam Looper's advantage is ratings volume (2.4K vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Jam Looper sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Preamp sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Preamp holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Jam Looper has 2.4K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Jam Looper ships an update every 3 months, Preamp every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
