# Brain Flash vs Read & Play

The clearest difference is rating: Brain Flash at 3.5 against Read & Play's 2.0. Brain Flash also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ratings volume (26 vs 1). Read & Play's advantage is update cadence (every 11 months vs every 25 months) and review sentiment (67% vs 57%). On price, ads, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Read & Play sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Brain Flash asks for nothing beyond the download.

Brain Flash holds the better App Store score, 3.5 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Brain Flash has 26 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of Brain Flash's written reviews are positive against 67% of Read & Play's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Brain Flash ships an update every 25 months, Read & Play every 11 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
