# OpticsPlanet.com vs Route

OpticsPlanet.com and Route both sit at 4.9 stars, but that hides the real split: 92% of OpticsPlanet.com's written reviews are positive against 39% of Route's. OpticsPlanet.com also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Route's advantage is ratings volume (519K vs 15K) and chart position (#180 vs unranked). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for OpticsPlanet.com against 4.8 for Route. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Route has 519K ratings behind it against 15K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 92% of OpticsPlanet.com's written reviews are positive against 39% of Route's.

OpticsPlanet.com ships an update every 5 weeks, Route every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 14, 2026.
