# Scanner' vs PDF Scanner

The clearest difference is rating: PDF Scanner at 5.0 against Scanner''s 4.2. Scanner''s advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 52 months) and ratings volume (1.4K vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

PDF Scanner holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scanner' has 1.4K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 19% of Scanner''s written reviews are positive against 10% of PDF Scanner's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Scanner' ships an update every 2 months, PDF Scanner every 52 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
