# Finale vs Grade Control

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Finale at 100% against Grade Control's 30%. Finale also leads on rating (4.4 vs 4.2) and iOS requirement (13.1 vs 17.0). Grade Control's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Finale sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Grade Control sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Finale holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Grade Control has 494 ratings behind it against 61, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of Finale's written reviews are positive against 30% of Grade Control's.

Finale ships an update every 3 months, Grade Control monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
