# Davis Map + vs Japa

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Davis Map + at 100% against Japa's 57%. Davis Map + also leads on iOS requirement (9.0 vs 16.4). Japa's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (129 vs 4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Japa holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Japa has 129 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Davis Map +'s written reviews are positive against 57% of Japa's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Davis Map + ships an update every 2 months, Japa fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
