# Altimeter vs Altimeter

Altimeter and Altimeter both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 96% of Altimeter's written reviews are positive against 56% of Altimeter's. Altimeter also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Altimeter's advantage is ratings volume (1.3K vs 21) and iOS requirement (18.5 vs 26.0). On price, rating and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Altimeter sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per year and Altimeter sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Altimeter against 4.6 for Altimeter. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Altimeter has 1.3K ratings behind it against 21, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 96% of Altimeter's written reviews are positive against 56% of Altimeter's.

Altimeter ships an update every 3 months, Altimeter every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
