# Proximity Scanner vs Key ID

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Proximity Scanner at none against Key ID's 1. Proximity Scanner also leads on iOS requirement (8.0 vs 16.0). Key ID's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 11 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Key ID sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Proximity Scanner asks for nothing beyond the download.

Proximity Scanner ships an update every 11 months, Key ID every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
