# Countdown Timer vs TimeCount

The clearest difference is monetization model: TimeCount at free with in-app purchases against Countdown Timer's subscription. TimeCount also leads on ratings volume (24K vs 371) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). Countdown Timer's advantage is device support (5 vs 1) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 16.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Countdown Timer sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and TimeCount sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

TimeCount holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TimeCount has 24K ratings behind it against 371, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 76% of Countdown Timer's written reviews are positive against 79% of TimeCount's.

Countdown Timer ships an update every 3 weeks, TimeCount weekly. The most recent releases landed on September 8, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
