# Countdown Timer vs Countdown

The clearest difference is monetization model: Countdown at free with in-app purchases against Countdown Timer's subscription. Countdown also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.4) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). Countdown Timer's advantage is device support (5 vs 3) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 18.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Countdown Timer sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Countdown sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Countdown holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Countdown has 3.1K ratings behind it against 371, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 76% of Countdown Timer's written reviews are positive against 82% of Countdown's.

Countdown Timer ships an update every 3 weeks, Countdown weekly. The most recent releases landed on September 8, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
