# TextEdit vs SonicBit

The clearest difference is review sentiment: SonicBit at 67% against TextEdit's 17%. SonicBit also leads on rating (4.8 vs 3.7) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 26.0). TextEdit's advantage is ratings volume (379 vs 6). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TextEdit sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and SonicBit sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SonicBit holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TextEdit has 379 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 17% of TextEdit's written reviews are positive against 67% of SonicBit's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
