# The Pattern vs stax

The clearest difference is rating: stax at 5.0 against The Pattern's 4.0. stax also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 14). The Pattern's advantage is ratings volume (16K vs 2) and chart position (#29 vs unranked). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. The Pattern sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month. stax asks for nothing beyond the download.

stax holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Pattern has 16K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.
