# Timeline vs Minimal Diary

Timeline and Minimal Diary both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 91% of Minimal Diary's written reviews are positive against 66% of Timeline's. Minimal Diary also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). Timeline's advantage is ratings volume (1.2K vs 28) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.0). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Timeline sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Minimal Diary sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Minimal Diary holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Timeline has 1.2K ratings behind it against 28, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 66% of Timeline's written reviews are positive against 91% of Minimal Diary's.

Timeline ships an update monthly, Minimal Diary fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
