# OpenArt vs Fictional

The clearest difference is review sentiment: OpenArt at 100% against Fictional's 50%. OpenArt also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 2) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 16.4). Fictional's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 2.3) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Fictional sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. OpenArt asks for nothing beyond the download.

Fictional holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fictional has 195 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of OpenArt's written reviews are positive against 50% of Fictional's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

OpenArt ships an update every 4 months, Fictional every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
