# Video Compressor vs MP4 Maker

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Video Compressor at 74% against MP4 Maker's 26%. Video Compressor also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and iOS requirement (7.0 vs 15.6). MP4 Maker's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.1) and update cadence (weekly vs every 12 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MP4 Maker sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Video Compressor asks for nothing beyond the download.

MP4 Maker holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MP4 Maker has 2.4K ratings behind it against 271, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 74% of Video Compressor's written reviews are positive against 26% of MP4 Maker's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Video Compressor ships an update every 12 months, MP4 Maker weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
