# Serial Reader vs ShortReads

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Serial Reader at 95% against ShortReads's 36%. Serial Reader also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (4.8 vs 4.5). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Serial Reader sells 5 one-off in-app purchases and ShortReads sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Serial Reader holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Serial Reader has 4.1K ratings behind it against 107, so its average is the more settled of the two.
