# Serial Reader vs BookPassage

The clearest difference is update cadence: BookPassage at every 4 days against Serial Reader's every 3 months. BookPassage also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Serial Reader's advantage is ratings volume (4.1K vs 2). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Serial Reader sells 5 one-off in-app purchases and BookPassage sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

BookPassage holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Serial Reader has 4.1K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.
