# Serial Reader vs bookworm

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: bookworm at none against Serial Reader's 5. bookworm also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 months). Serial Reader's advantage is ratings volume (4.1K vs 10) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Serial Reader sells 5 one-off in-app purchases. bookworm asks for nothing beyond the download.

bookworm holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Serial Reader has 4.1K ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two.
