# Face Swap vs xpression avatar

The clearest difference is ads: xpression avatar at none against Face Swap's shown. xpression avatar also leads on rating (4.5 vs 4.3) and ratings volume (17K vs 1.8K). Face Swap's advantage is review sentiment (49% vs 27%) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.5). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Face Swap sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and xpression avatar sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

xpression avatar holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: xpression avatar has 17K ratings behind it against 1.8K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 49% of Face Swap's written reviews are positive against 27% of xpression avatar's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Face Swap ships an update every 5 weeks, xpression avatar every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
