# LockNote vs Kake Journal

The clearest difference is monetization model: LockNote at free against Kake Journal's freemium. Kake Journal's advantage is review sentiment (91% vs 67%) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. LockNote sells 10 one-off in-app purchases and Kake Journal sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
