# LockNote vs Diary Journal

The clearest difference is monetization model: LockNote at free against Diary Journal's free with in-app purchases. Diary Journal's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. LockNote sells 10 one-off in-app purchases and Diary Journal sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $19.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

LockNote ships an update every 3 weeks, Diary Journal every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
