# AR AlpineGuide vs swisstopo

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: swisstopo at none against AR AlpineGuide's 6. swisstopo also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (74% vs 42%). AR AlpineGuide's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.3) and update cadence (weekly vs monthly). On price and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AR AlpineGuide sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. swisstopo asks for nothing beyond the download.

AR AlpineGuide holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AR AlpineGuide has 784 ratings behind it against 20, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 42% of AR AlpineGuide's written reviews are positive against 74% of swisstopo's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
