# AR AlpineGuide vs GPX viewer

The clearest difference is rating: AR AlpineGuide at 4.6 against GPX viewer's 3.7. AR AlpineGuide also leads on ratings volume (790 vs 9) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). GPX viewer's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (75% vs 42%). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AR AlpineGuide sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and GPX viewer sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

AR AlpineGuide holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AR AlpineGuide has 790 ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 42% of AR AlpineGuide's written reviews are positive against 75% of GPX viewer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

AR AlpineGuide ships an update weekly, GPX viewer every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
