# Format vs Focus

The clearest difference is rating: Focus at 5.0 against Format's 2.7. Focus also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 months). Format's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 2) and ratings volume (6 vs 1). On price, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Focus sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Format asks for nothing beyond the download.

Focus holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Format has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Format ships an update every 2 months, Focus every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
