# Gate Smart Lock vs Security Home

The clearest difference is rating: Security Home at 4.3 against Gate Smart Lock's 3.1. Security Home also leads on ratings volume (11K vs 42). Gate Smart Lock's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 7) and review sentiment (37% vs 19%). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Security Home sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Gate Smart Lock asks for nothing beyond the download.

Security Home holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Security Home has 11K ratings behind it against 42, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 37% of Gate Smart Lock's written reviews are positive against 19% of Security Home's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Gate Smart Lock ships an update monthly, Security Home every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
