# カクヨムViewer vs 読書尚友

The clearest difference is rating: カクヨムViewer at 4.7 against 読書尚友's 4.0. カクヨムViewer also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ratings volume (49 vs 1). 読書尚友's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 16%) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.6). On price, update cadence, ads and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. 読書尚友 sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. カクヨムViewer asks for nothing beyond the download.

カクヨムViewer holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: カクヨムViewer has 49 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 16% of カクヨムViewer's written reviews are positive against 50% of 読書尚友's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

カクヨムViewer ships an update fortnightly, 読書尚友 every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
