# Chat vs Pointchat

The clearest difference is rating: Pointchat at 5.0 against Chat's 3.5. Chat's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 6 weeks) and ratings volume (20 vs 4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Pointchat holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chat has 20 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Chat ships an update every 9 days, Pointchat every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
