# Chat vs ekşi

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Chat at 60% against ekşi's 7%. Chat also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 2) and ads (none vs shown). ekşi's advantage is rating (4.1 vs 3.3) and ratings volume (124 vs 21). On price, update cadence and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ekşi sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Chat asks for nothing beyond the download.

ekşi holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ekşi has 124 ratings behind it against 21, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of Chat's written reviews are positive against 7% of ekşi's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Chat ships an update fortnightly, ekşi every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
