# uTalk vs Takaua

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Takaua at none against uTalk's 93. Takaua also leads on update cadence (daily vs monthly) and rating (4.8 vs 4.4). uTalk's advantage is ratings volume (1K vs 8). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. uTalk sells 92 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Takaua asks for nothing beyond the download.

Takaua holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: uTalk has 1K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of uTalk's written reviews are positive against 60% of Takaua's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

uTalk ships an update monthly, Takaua daily. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
