# Bookly vs Book Briefs

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Book Briefs at none against Bookly's 10. Book Briefs also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 3 days vs monthly). Bookly's advantage is ratings volume (63K vs 3) and rating (4.6 vs 4.3). On price there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Bookly sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Book Briefs asks for nothing beyond the download.

Bookly holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Bookly has 63K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 84% of Bookly's written reviews are positive against 100% of Book Briefs's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Bookly ships an update monthly, Book Briefs every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
