# Shellfire VPN vs AlwaysHome Mobile

The clearest difference is rating: AlwaysHome Mobile at 4.8 against Shellfire VPN's 3.1. AlwaysHome Mobile also leads on ratings volume (2.9K vs 14) and review sentiment (80% vs 57%). Shellfire VPN's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shellfire VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $10.49 per month and AlwaysHome Mobile sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

AlwaysHome Mobile holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AlwaysHome Mobile has 2.9K ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 57% of Shellfire VPN's written reviews are positive against 80% of AlwaysHome Mobile's.

Shellfire VPN ships an update every 7 months, AlwaysHome Mobile every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
