# Shellfire VPN vs Secure VPN

The clearest difference is rating: Secure VPN at 4.4 against Shellfire VPN's 3.1. Secure VPN also leads on update cadence (every 10 days vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (325 vs 14). Shellfire VPN's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shellfire VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $10.49 per month and Secure VPN sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Secure VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Secure VPN has 325 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 58% of Shellfire VPN's written reviews are positive against 55% of Secure VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Shellfire VPN ships an update every 7 months, Secure VPN every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
