# Shellfire VPN vs CountX

The clearest difference is review sentiment: CountX at 100% against Shellfire VPN's 57%. CountX also leads on rating (4.8 vs 3.1) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 7 months). Shellfire VPN's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.0). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shellfire VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $10.49 per month and CountX sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

CountX holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CountX has 85 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 57% of Shellfire VPN's written reviews are positive against 100% of CountX's.

Shellfire VPN ships an update every 7 months, CountX fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
