# trek noir vs TOR Browser

The clearest difference is rating: TOR Browser at 4.5 against trek noir's 3.0. TOR Browser also leads on ratings volume (14K vs 6) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). trek noir's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and review sentiment (57% vs 31%). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TOR Browser sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per 7 days. trek noir asks for nothing beyond the download.

TOR Browser holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TOR Browser has 14K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of trek noir's written reviews are positive against 31% of TOR Browser's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

trek noir ships an update every 2 months, TOR Browser every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
