# War Tortoise vs Submarine Apocalypse

The clearest difference is rating: War Tortoise at 4.9 against Submarine Apocalypse's 3.0. War Tortoise also leads on ratings volume (7K vs 1) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 13.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. War Tortoise sells 5 one-off in-app purchases and Submarine Apocalypse sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

War Tortoise holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: War Tortoise has 7K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

War Tortoise ships an update every 4 months, Submarine Apocalypse every 8 months. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
