# MCQS vs PhotoSolve

The clearest difference is monetization model: MCQS at freemium against PhotoSolve's subscription. MCQS also leads on ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (13.4 vs 15.0). PhotoSolve's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (1.4K vs 5). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MCQS sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $8.99 per month and PhotoSolve sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PhotoSolve holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PhotoSolve has 1.4K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 50% of MCQS's written reviews are positive against 72% of PhotoSolve's.

MCQS ships an update every 2 weeks, PhotoSolve monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
