# Marley Spoon vs Wildgrain

The clearest difference is monetization model: Marley Spoon at free with in-app purchases against Wildgrain's subscription. Marley Spoon also leads on update cadence (weekly vs monthly) and ratings volume (8K vs 231). Wildgrain's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 31%). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Marley Spoon against 4.8 for Wildgrain. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Marley Spoon has 8K ratings behind it against 231, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 31% of Marley Spoon's written reviews are positive against 50% of Wildgrain's.

Marley Spoon ships an update weekly, Wildgrain monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
