# SmartOBD vs Jottre

The clearest difference is update cadence: Jottre at every 3 weeks against SmartOBD's every 4 months. SmartOBD's advantage is iOS requirement (9.0 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

SmartOBD ships an update every 4 months, Jottre every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
