# PGW vs Fax

The clearest difference is rating: Fax at 4.2 against PGW's 2.5. Fax also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (454 vs 8). PGW's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 11). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Fax sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. PGW asks for nothing beyond the download.

Fax holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fax has 454 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 33% of PGW's written reviews are positive against 43% of Fax's.

PGW ships an update every 4 months, Fax every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
