# Forgestone vs QR Code Scanner

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Forgestone at none against QR Code Scanner's 8. Forgestone also leads on ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 17.0). QR Code Scanner's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 2 months) and rating (4.5 vs 4.2). On price, review sentiment and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. QR Code Scanner sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Forgestone asks for nothing beyond the download.

QR Code Scanner holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: QR Code Scanner has 98 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Forgestone's written reviews are positive against 43% of QR Code Scanner's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Forgestone ships an update every 2 months, QR Code Scanner every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
