# VerseCloud vs Ulysses

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: VerseCloud at none against Ulysses's 7. Ulysses's advantage is ratings volume (2.1K vs 49). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Ulysses sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. VerseCloud asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for VerseCloud against 4.6 for Ulysses. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ulysses has 2.1K ratings behind it against 49, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 67% and 67% positive.

VerseCloud ships an update monthly, Ulysses every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
