# MidiPhonics vs BIGBOX

The clearest difference is rating: BIGBOX at 4.0 against MidiPhonics's 2.0. BIGBOX also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (20 vs 2). MidiPhonics's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BIGBOX sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. MidiPhonics asks for nothing beyond the download.

BIGBOX holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BIGBOX has 20 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

MidiPhonics ships an update every 2 months, BIGBOX every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
